President & Co-Founder, African Chamber of Commerce Nordics (ACCN)
Eskilstuna Representative Gisma Mou Mou (Region Sörmland) is the President and Co-Founder of the African Chamber of Commerce Nordics (ACCN). She is an esteemed elected member of the Regional Council of Sörmland and a trailblazer with a remarkable journey.
Born in South Sudan, Gisma fled the civil war at the age of 18 and immigrated to Trondheim, Norway in 1998 before settling in Eskilstuna, Sweden in 2004. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stockholm University and a Master’s degree in Social Sciences with a specialization in Political Science from Linköping University.
A pioneer, Gisma is the first African immigrant woman elected to the Regional Council of Sörmland and the first South Sudanese-Swedish citizen to hold such a position. Overcoming adversity, she has made Eskilstuna her proud home.
In addition to her regional role, Gisma serves as President and Co-Founder of the African Chamber of Commerce Nordics ACCN and the African Women’s Lobby (AWL/ACCN). She is deeply committed to community development, equity, and diversity, tirelessly advocating for economic opportunities, immigrant rights, and stronger cooperation between Africa and the world. Her advocacy also focuses on improving the quality of life for African immigrants and diaspora communities through social, economic, and educational empowerment programs. Under her leadership, ACCN helps families successfully integrate into their local communities.
