Dr. Biar Deng Mabior Deng is a South Sudanese–Finnish scholar and researcher with a PhD in Plant Biology from the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, Finland.

His doctoral research focused on Improving soil properties with Acacia seyal agroforestry and biochar : implication for sorghum production on drylands of South Sudan.

With roots in South Sudan and strong expertise in agroforestry, soil science, and sustainable land management, Dr. Deng brings both academic rigor and practical insight into addressing agricultural and environmental challenges in Africa and Nordics. His work bridges Nordic research excellence with African development priorities, particularly in areas of climate resilience, food security, and environmental sustainability. As a member of the ACCN Board, Dr. Deng contributes valuable perspectives on sustainable agriculture, innovation, and collaboration between research institutions and business communities. His dual background and international experience strengthen ACCN’s mission to foster meaningful partnerships between the Nordics and Africa.
